Israel and its Dry Bones
God told Moses that if the Jews were obedient to His laws and kept His commandments, then there would be peace and prosperity in the land; but if they did not ~~ then trials and tribulations and even captivity would come upon them.
Deuteronomy 28:64 And the LORD shall scatter you among all people, from the one end of the earth even to the other; and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known, even wood and stone.
And the people rejected God’s laws and went after other gods, and so God fulfilled his prophecy, and the Jews were dispersed from the Promised Land, to all of the nations on the earth, where they were hated and persecuted, even until today.
But our Lord is merciful, He promised that he would not desert Israel altogether.
Ezekiel 6:8; yet will I leave a remnant, that you may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when you shall be scattered through the countries.
Ezekiel 36:19; And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.
As a result of this dispersion, the Jews became unbelievers, forgetting the miracles that God had done for them by bringing them out of slavery in Egypt and into the Promised Land. They forgot that God had given them the Law through Moses and had supplied all of their needs in the wilderness, for forty years. Once again they thought that God had forsaken them.
But no! God has not forsaken His people ~~ they have forsaken Him! God continued to send signs and wonders and prophets to His people and God the Father still remembered Israel as His bride, even though many of them did not understand the significance of this statement, nor did they “act like the Bride of the God Almighty”.
Then God lifted up the Prophet Ezekiel, to give them more instruction and to tell them of more punishments, if they did not repent and come back to Him.
In Ezekiel Chapter 37, we have this encounter between God Almighty and his prophet Ezekiel as recounted in the New Living Translation.
The Power of the Lord was upon me and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley, full of old, dry bones that were scattered everywhere across the ground. He led me around among them and then He said to me: “Son of dust, can these bones become people again?”
I replied, “Lord, you alone know the answer to that.” The he told me to speak to the bones and say: “O dry bones, listen to the words of God, for the Lord God says, See! I am going to make you live and breathe again! I will replace the flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you shall live and know that I AM the Lord”.
So I spoke these words from God, just as he told me to; and suddenly there was a rattling noise from all across the valley, and the bones of each body came together and attached to each other as they used to be (in perfect order). Can you just imagine this scene that Ezekiel is seeing in the spirit? Here there is a valley of loosely scattered bones, which the jackals and wolves have disbursed, as they have ripped up the dead bodies in the past, coming back together, to their own specific skeleton. To be reunited and re-assembled into a complete skeleton once again.
Then Ezekiel heard movement and saw a massive number of things moving along the ground which looked like snakes, but upon closer examination, they were the tendons and sinews which were being re-attached to the skeletons. Then, as I watched, the muscles and flesh formed over the bones, and skin covered them, but the bodies had no breath. The he told me to call to the wind and say: “The Lord God says: Come from the four winds, O Spirit, and breathe upon these slain bodies, that they may live again.” So I spoke to the winds as he commanded me and the bodies began breathing; they lived, and stood up ~~ a very great army.
Then he told me what the vision meant: “These bones,” He said “represent all the people of Israel.” They say: “We have become a heap of dry-out bones ~ all hope is gone”. But tell them, the Lord says: “My people, I will open your graves of exile and cause you to rise again and return to the land of Israel. And then at last, O my people, you will know that I am the Lord. I will put my Spirit into you, and you shall live and return again to your own land. Then you will know that I, The Lord, have done just what I promised.”
Then again a message from the Lord came to me saying: “Take a stick and carve on it these words: ‘This stick represents Judah and her allied tribes.’ Then take another stick and carve upon it these words: ‘This stick represents all of the other tribes of Israel.’ Now hold them together on your hand as one stick. Tell these people (holding up the stick so that they can see what you are doing), the Lord God says: “I will take the (rebellious) tribes of Israel and join them to Judah and make them one stick in my hand. [God is going to re-unite the tribes of Israel once again into one nation] “For the Lord God says: I am gathering the people of Israel from among the nations, and bringing them home from around the world to their own land, to unify them into one nation. One king shall be king of them all; no longer shall they be divided into two nations. They shall stop polluting themselves with idols and their other sins, for I will save them from all this foulness. Then shall they be truly my people and I their God.”
“And David, my Servant ~~The Messiah ~~ shall be their King, their only shepherd; and they shall obey my laws and all my wishes. They shall live in the land of Israel where their fathers lived, the land I gave to my servant Jacob. They and their children after them shall live there, and their grandchildren, for all generations. And my Servant David shall be their Prince forever. And I will make a covenant of peace with them, and everlasting pact. I will bless them and multiply them and put my Temple among them forever. And I will make my home among them. Yes, I will be their God and they shall be my people. And when my Temple remains among them; then all of the nations shall know that I, The Lord, have set Israel apart for special blessings”.
Now I believe the vision is more than this. I believe God was showing Ezekiel and the whole nation of Israel that he will assemble the dry bones of the Jews, who have died in all nations of the earth. That God will bring them back to Israel, to be among those already living there, at the time when Jesus comes, to claim His bride from among those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. We must remember that Israel is already the Bride, married to God Almighty. He has never divorced her, even when she went away after other gods. That shows how much God loved His chosen people.
So where are we today in 2019, (at the end of Hebrew year 5779?)
The nation of Israel has been established in one day, just as was prophesied.
Jerusalem has been recaptured by Israel in the 1967 six-day war
People from all nations of the world are starting to return to Israel as Aliyah comes into motion and now the nation has a population of approximately 8.5 million people.
Jerusalem is now the capital city of Israel.
Nations from around the world are recognizing that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and they are moving their embassies to Jerusalem.
More and more nations are discussing diplomatic and economic ties with Israel.
As God promised, they are changing the desert into a place of bountiful harvests, showing the nations in the Middle East, that God honours His promises to His people.
And as expected, some nations are jealous and want to destroy Israel to take the glory away from God Almighty.
We know who these nations serve. They serve the Prince of this world, and therefore they will suffer the same fate as is promised for all who follow him into hell.
We have seen some significant developments in Israel over the last 5 years.
In 2015, they have celebrated the first official Passover Feast in Israel, since the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD. This has continued each year ever since.
In 2016, The Sanhedrin was re-established and appointed its first High Priest, since the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD.
In 2017, The Knesset (The Israeli Parliament) passed a law recognizing that Messianic Jews, living in Israel, have the same legal rights as orthodox Jews. This is the first time in Israel’s history that they have recognised Jewish followers of Jesus Christ, as having legitimate rights in Israel.
In 2018, the High Priest, challenged the President of Iraq, to build the Third Temple, “as an act of peace”, just like his forefathers did before him.
In December 2018, the Pope (representing the Christian churches) and the Senior Imam of the Sunni Religion (representing the Muslim Faiths), gathered together in U.A.E. together with over 700 representatives from Christian and other faiths, to sign a “Peace Covenant”.
In early 2019, the High Priest erected, dedicated, and consecrated, the Sacrificial Altar, outside the walls of Jerusalem, so that the sacrificial animals can be slaughtered and the blood brought into the city of Jerusalem, to be spread on the Temple Mount and ultimately inside the Third Temple when it is erected.
At Passover in 2019, the Temple utensils which were used in the First Temple, which were taken away to Babylon and then returned to Jerusalem, were used in this year’s Passover Celebrations.
The stage is now set for the events of the Book of Daniel and of the Book of Revelation to be set in motion. It is time for all churches to examine themselves and determine if they are worthy to be included in the Bride of Christ.
We must remember that Jesus Christ Himself identified in Revelation chapters 2 & 3 that 5 of out of the 7 churches were not acceptable to him in their present format.
Jesus gave these churches instructions about how to correct themselves so that they would be acceptable. He also indicated what punishments would apply to any church which failed to change.
It is also indicated that there will be a great falling away, with many churches becoming apostate churches, allowing sin to enter the churches and not be corrected. For example;
1. Churches would allow gay and lesbian pastors to be ordained in their churches, even when the scripture states that homosexuality is an abomination in the sight of God.
2. Churches would remain silent when governments pass laws which are clearly contrary to the word of God; like Same Sex Marriage laws, Abortion Laws, Teaching programs in schools, which teach about Gays and Lesbians, as well as trans-gender, are “normal”, not evil.
All of these issues clearly show a society which is falling away from the true things of God Almighty and following after ‘lesser gods’. The church must remember that judgement will begin within the church and already we have seen laws being passed and implemented, which muzzle our rights to freedom of speech.
The beginning of the end of the “Age of the Gentiles” is here upon us. We have to be vigilant and continually checking our spiritual situation; and the closeness in our relationships with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Father.
Jesus said in John chapter 4. The time is coming “and now is,” when those who worship me, must worship me in Spirit and in Truth. Are you actually doing this in YOUR church? Selah! Stop! Pause! And think about that!
