I understand where you've been because I've been there too. I am a  Survivor of an abusive marriage and it's all by the grace of God. Some people see the glory, but they don't know the story. And like most Hurting women, I stayed in it because I wanted my marriage to work, but it only got worst. I was raised in the church and I was taught a woman place was to be submissive to her husband at all times, and she had to stay in her marriage regardless of the situation. My ex husband use to lock me in the house each day before he went to work. He said it was only because he loved me. And I believe him, he called me the most hurtful names, he even said I was a dog. As the abuse became more unbearable, I finally build up the courage and took the matter to the Elders in the church, but they only swept the matter under the rug because my husband was a big tighter in the church.
