Miracles & Healing Testimony featuring
“They Didn't Have To Accept The Assignment”

I had been coughing for a week before I went to see the doctor, who diagnosed my symptoms as adult-onset asthma. I was given an inhaler and a breathing machine. The cough was expected to clear up within a matter of days. Instead of clearing up, it quickly became worse. Now when I coughed, I would almost fainted.. Nothing brought consistent relief.
“Dr. Elliott, I’m taking you to the hospital. Something is wrong. Your cough is not getting any better. It’s getting worse. Let me please take you to the doctor,“ LaPorsha pleaded. I was her mentor and we were having our weekly meeting at my home. I remember coughing and stumbling over the TV which set on the floor and then I remember a line of questions.
“What’s your name?”
“I don’t know, “ I sobbed.
“Do you know where you are?
"Do you know what day of the week it is? Do you know the city you are in?’" asked this strange voice.
“No. Yes. I’m at home in St. Paul and it’s Monday night.“
I squeaked out these words in-between a flood of continuous tears and horrific pain.
In fact, I was in the emergency room in Wichita, KS, and it was Thursday noon.
What I am about to tell you now happened over the next twelve days. The first six, I have no re-call. I was in tremendous pain and in and out of consciousness. LaPorsha shared what took place the first six days. The doctors told her that I was not expected to live through the night. I was diagnosed with double pneumonia, with two large masses on my thyroid and a large mass in my left lung. LaPorsha sent out an emergency email asking everyone to pray. She stayed by my side for most of the twelve days.
During the first night, pastor after pastor came in to pray over me. Later, I learned that God woke some pastors up in the middle of the night and told them to hurry and go to the hospital to pray for me. They came around the clock. One pastor came three times and later shared with me that having pastored for more than 40 years, he had never visited one person in the hospital three times, and I was not even his church member, but that when he walked into my room, he saw the spirit of death on me.
For six days, I did not eat, I did not walk, nor did I talk. The combination of these three things plus the drugs for pain, caused me to be in a very weakened state. On the evening of the sixth night, the death angel entered my room. “You’re dying. Just accept it. You’re dying,” he repeated.
The number seven means perfect or complete. Many significant things have happened in my life having to do with the number seven. Early on the morning of the seventh day, I was in a slumbered state, but could see who I thought was the lung specialist, standing at the end of my bed. In a faint voice I asked, “Am I dying?” The doctor dropped his head and whispered, “Well, there has been some improvement.”
“I didn’t ask you that,“ I said. “I asked you if I was dying?”
Before the doctor could respond, the Holy Spirit shook me, sat me up in the bed and these words came quietly, but with boldness out of my mouth, “I shall live and not die. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. By Jesus’ stripes, I am healed!”
I asked God that if on the first night, the doctosr thought I was not going to live, why was I not in ICU?
The Lord said that if I had been in ICU, the pastors would not have been able to come to pray for me my first night, 24/7. God said that they were all on assignment. He wanted to know if they would be willing to be inconvenienced, uncomfortable, and get up and go pray for me. He woke some up at midnight, some at 3:00 am. Had they not obeyed God’s voice, I could have died.
On the ninth day, in the early evening, I still had not eaten, nor walked, but I was able to sit up and hold short conversations. A team of nine doctors and nurses came into my room. The lung specialist said, “We don’t know how to tell you this, but today, there were nine other patients with you on this wing of the hospital. You made number ten. All nine have been released to go home. You are the only patient left. So, we are all yours.”.
Why would I be left alone as the sole patient? What did God want me to do? Well, as only God would have it, during the remainder of the evening, I led two nurses to the Lord and prayed for a Jewish doctor. When the women who cleaned my room came in, the Holy Spirit told me her son was ill. I asked her if she had a son and was he sick. She said that he was.
“May I pray with you and we ask God to heal your son?” I asked.
“Oh no Miss, you cannot pray for my son,” she said. “Don’t you know that you are dying?” I told her that something can be dead and God can bring it back to life and someone can look dead and God can, even then, give them the strength to pray.
On the tenth day, still without food in my stomach, a physical therapist came in and said I had to start walking again. With the ‘gait’ around my stomach and holding onto a walker, getting out of the bed and taking even a few steps hurt tremendously. I told the therapist that I could not do it. The pain was unbearable. Immediately, in an open vision, God showed me a paraplegic man, with no legs nor feet of his own. He had prosthetics for both limbs and was running around a race track.
“If he can learn to walk and run with two legs and feet that are not his own, you can learn to walk again. It may hurt, but sometimes for healing, you have to go through the pain.” Slowly, but surely, I walked half way around the wing. The doctor’s said that I was now, a walking miracle. Very few people regain their health after a bout of pneumonia, almost none after double pneumonia. One of the nurses shared with me that the doctor’s did not want to perform surgery to remove the fluid on my lungs the night I was admitted. They thought my lungs would collapse and I would die.
On the eleventh day, I asked God many questions concerning the sickness and the stay in the hospital. The Lord reminded me that the enemy many times will attack the part of your body used most often in ministry. My ministry consists of over 40 years of ministering in healing and deliverance. As an Apostle, I open Apostolic Training and Healing Centers, training and equipping church leaders and those in the five-fold ministry.
I asked God why we don’t experience many miracles of healing anymore? He said that we no longer have an expectation of Him working miracles, and we don’t hear testimonies. Testimonies give you hope. When you hear and see a miracle, then, your belief in miracles occurring increases. You begin to have expectations to see and hear more testimonies about miracles taking place in the lives of Believers.
On the very lovely and quiet eleventh night, God spoke this, he said, “Tell my Shepherds who will listen, that they have my word upside down. They have Matthew 6:33, upside down.” Matthew 6:33 reads, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” How does the church have this upside down? On Sunday mornings, we come in with a pre-planned service, listed in the weekly bulletin. We sing a hymn or two, or sing praise and worship songs. Then, announcements are read, offering collected, a solo, the sermon, a closing prayer and church is over..
God said, “Tell them to turn the order of service around. Have altar call first. Pray for the sick to be healed first, then they can sit through the service without being in pain.” It makes no sense to me that people come to church on crutches, or come in pain and leave the same. The sanctuary ought to become the hospital room on Sunday mornings, praying for the sick who come, praying for miraculous healings. Can you image what would happen when if this occurred in churches on Sunday mornings!
On the twelfth day, after performing a biopsy on the tumors on my thyroid and lung, I was released from the hospital. Home, sweet home. I learned? Many great lessons in those two weeks. I didn’t know how much I had taken walking for granted until I couldn’t walk. I didn’t know how much I had taken breathing for granted until I could not breathe on my own. God has increased the anointing on my life to pray for physical healings. When I can share my testimony in a church, and share about Matthew 6:33, that congregation begins experiencing miraculous healings.
What assignment has God given you? Have you acted upon it? Your obedience in doing so, could mean a soul miraculously healed.
